The Director of the installation, Zenaida Reyes, told ACN that the restoration will contribute to improving the conditions of some of the conserved materials currently found in boxes or transferred to other institutions making the conservation strategy difficult.
This will allow for users to access the old funds used as reference in scientific research, urban development projects and studies on culture and the traditions of the eastern city, she said.
She pointed out that the expansion of the site will also increase efficiency in the protection plans before natural disasters, mainly in archives of value 1, susceptible to humidity and variation in temperatures.
The digitalization of the funds of the 20th century is also being carried out as part of the projects to conserve the materials which included over 400 volumes in 2017 on the sugar production in the eastern part of the country.
There are funds from the 17th to the 20th century in the Archives of Holguin among them the protocols and notary readings which refers to the system of colonial squares and homes of the then Hato de San Isidro.
