HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 16 (ACN) Cuba will participate in the 38th edition of the International Tourism Fair, FITUR 2018 from January 17 th to the 21st in Madrid, Spain one of the markets where the Caribbean island is looking to position itself in the market.
Tourism Minister Manuel Marrero will head the Cuban delegation, reported the Ministry.
The event will have the participation of the country's main hotel chains as well as those managed by Melia Hotels, Iberostar and Blue Diamond.
According to the communique, Cuban Medical Services and Caracol, represented by cigar roller Jose Castelar Cairo (Cueto) who has several Guinness world records for elaborating the longest cigars in the world will also be at the tourism fair.
The 21st Iberoamerican Conference of Tourism Ministers and Business executives from 14 countries was held on Tuesday in Madrid as part of Fitur 2018.
Considered leader in Iberoamerica and second most prestigious in the world, the Spanish Tourism Fair is a meeting point for professionals interested in positioning its tourism products and strengthening ties with tour operators and travel agents in the region.
According to the Cuban Tourism Ministry, Spain finished 2017 with a growth of 10.5 percent of its travelers to Cuba, which has had at least 4 million visitors in the last two years.
Cuba expects to reach, for the first time, the five million mark by the end of 2018.
