Beijing, Apr 15 (Prensa Latina) The second Forum of the Belt and Road for International Cooperation, scheduled for this April, will give further boost to this initiative, assured Wang Xiaoquan, member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

The meeting will be held in Beijing and, according to Wang, should generate a broader consensus in the international community to jointly develop the project.

According to Xinhua news agency, representatives of a hundred countries, including nearly 40 government leaders, have confirmed their attendance to the event.

The expert also expressed his hope that the forum will promote connectivity between people from the countries participating in the development of the Belt and the Road.

Recently, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences published a report in which it states that after five years the initiative has become an important platform to promote global trade.

The Belt and Road initiative emerged in 2013 with the aspiration to link China with other continents through a network of infrastructure, trade and all kinds of exchanges on the principles of equality, respect and shared profit and responsibility.

To date, 124 countries and 29 international organizations have signed cooperation agreements with China on the Belt and Road Initiative.
