Three electoral victories of the Bolivarian Revolution obtained in less than five months, constitute a defeat to the interventionist plans implemented from the United States, and it gives a renewed strength to the Chavist people and their leaders. With these triumphs in the portfolio, the Political Council of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Treaty of Trade of the Peoples (ALBA-TCP) meets this Thursday in Havana.
These victories were pissible due to the respect for the sovereignty of Venezuela that has been one of the main concerns, not only of the Alba but also of the all nations and person that defend the right to the self-determination, despite of the sustained aggression that has been the object of that country since the empire in recent months. Also, because we will have to continue defending it.
It is an interventionist strategy that has not stopped, as if it were deaf and blind. The new government of the United States try to continue the pressures by manipulating reality. Washington has no options but to ignore the facts. Therefore, the honest political and social forces have to continue closing ranks around a nation that has demonstrated at the polls its commitment to the Revolution: a people that has grown, strengthening their conscience, and strong leaders who have demonstrated the viability of their strategy for peace.
Venezuela and Cuba are the founding nations and driving forces of the Alba a strong reason to better understand why they are being attacked, and why the integrationist scheme is in better conditions today to continue its efforts for the peoples and a better life for the common man.
The Bolivarian Alternative is the most advanced initiative in terms of regional integration. The purpose of its member nations to complement each other to solve mutual needs makes this scheme much more complete for the development of the member countries and their coexistence, than mere commercial integration.
Of those potentialities, the Bolivarian Alliance has realized that the materialization, with joint efforts of solidarity initiatives aimed at improving the situation of human beings such as literacy and health care, among others, shows the latent potentialities.
The establishment of a bank programm to help meet the financial needs of the member states, although incipient, and the nomination of a secretary general –in which the ex-Bolivian chancellor David Choquehuanca was the chosen one-, among other steps, show their interest in being institutionalized, purpose in which the meetings of its Political Council are inserted and is being held in Havana today.
Thirteen years
But it should not be overlooked that the encounter occurs on the date of evocations.
Today, December 14th, marks the 13th anniversary of Fidel and Chávez signing in Havana the Joint Declaration that marked the emergence of ALBA.
As the text points out, was commemorated then (2004) the 180th anniversary of "the glorious victory of Ayacucho and the Meeting to the Amphictyonic Congress of Panama, which tried to open the way to a true integration process of our countries, frustrated since then ", and both leaders expressed their conviction “that finally now, with the consolidation of the Bolivarian Revolution and the indisputable failure of the neoliberal policies imposed on our countries, the Latin American and Caribbean peoples are on the road to their second and true independence. The rising of the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas proposed by President Hugo Chávez Frías is his best expression, "he said.
Today, that assertion is corroborated.
