En Manhattan, Nueva York, Estados Unidos, nació Alicia Keys, —nombre artístico de Alicia Augello Cook—, en 1981. Esta cantante, actriz y compositora de R&B y soul, ha vendido internacionalmente más de 30 millones de discos, y ha ganado numerosos premios, incluidos 14 Grammys, 17 Premios Billboard y tres American Music Awards. Su álbum debut, Songs in A Minor, conquistó cinco Grammys en una sola noche (entre ellos Mejor artista novel y Canción del año por Fallin’), un récord que solo ha sido superado por Beyoncé (2010) y por Adele (2012). A los siete años comenzó a tocar el piano, y a los 12 matriculó en la Professional Performing Arts School de Manhattan, donde empezó a componer sus primeras canciones.
